Hack

Werther was such a good boy today. I rode him alone in the indoor, the space heaters where in high gear and he was a little apprehensive about the noise at first, but he did not do anything bad. He was super pokey at the trot but he brightened up a little bit at the canter. He picked up both of leads right on cue, we did quite a few flying lead changes today. Changes are so easy for him, and barely have to ask. I worked up canter up the quarter lines to work on my turns, once I got the turn at funny angle so he did a lead change because he thought we were changing directions. Mom brought Wesley back from the clinic, apparently he was not happy there at all, he did not drink any water and he was sore from the injection and the vets messing around with his tumors. After Wesley was back in his stall for a little while, he perked right up and was his usual sassy self. He goes back in two weeks to get another injection of the tumor vaccine, we are going to see if we can arrange it so Wesley does not have to stay overnight.

Hi, Ellie. I really enjoy your blog. I have been blind since birth, and it's nice to know another who doesn't let the disability run your life. I am trying to get bakc into riding, but it has been challenging since I am raising a four-year-old and trying to get ready to go to graduate school. I'm sure my horses like the easy life, but I really miss riding and training. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and let you know how much I enjoy your blog.

Thanks, it is nice to know that people are reading! I've been trying to find a job, which is not easy in this economy, I totally get the riding / everything else balance. I hope you can find a way to make it all work so you can get in a little riding as well.

I think this is so great. I love it! It makes my day at work brighten up to hear about how hard you work and your horsie is sooo cute. I love my TB very much and I know how strong your bond is with all your horses.

Thanks! Wesley, the gray in my profile picture is a TB. Wesley is retired now, but he always was a blast to ride and he is an extremely smart horse.

Heh! That horse works me harder than any other horse I have owned. She was an auction baby, and she was wild for over a year. We think she is twh, but I have never owned a gaited breed so we'll see what she's like when I back her this spring.
